Argentina made frame, chromovelato finish?

I was going to bid on this, then my wife noticed.
Anyone here get it? Looked like it would make a great single speed project, what I had in mind.

Oh, this seller has had several of these?
I've found that if you message them, sometimes you can work a deal alone, without an auction. Seller will be happy to ditch the ebay and paypal fees, and deal direct. If you aren't scared.

Since about a month ago, there have been numerous frames like that one in many different sizes for sale on Ebay. The 2 I bid on were a darker green 58cm and a copper colored 54 or 56. I've seen sizes all the way from 50cm to >58cm. So just wait and another one will pop up. Both of the ones I bid on had French threaded cottered BB's I believe.

My first dumpster bike was an argentinian made lightweight frame that, as I recall, looked a lot like those. It was all chromed, but except for the lugs the chrome was really rough; and all the chrome was rusted and pitted. The rough finish on the BB etc. looks very familiar. Same lug design, all the same braze-ons, no derailleur hanger.

It rode beautifully. In fact I rode it 100 km a few years ago; my brother has it in Berlin now.

I messaged him to see what's what. I'd like one in 54cm.
Since they come with the head set and BB, I guess that would make the "french curse" easier to swallow, for an english threaded guy like me.

That is how I got my Cornelo. after I lost I emailed the seller crying and whining. he said he had another and would sell it to me at the same price as the other one sold for. Franz is great.

this is nice looking.

but will someone please exactly what a "chromovelto" finish. so Chromvelto is basically colored chrome? I know I loved that beautiful Scopin with the red finish.

Cromovelato usually refers to full chrome with a transparent color coat over it.

Sometimes it refers to a reflective metallic chrome (or silver) paint with a transparent color over it (also known as flamboyant or candy)

I've communicated with the ebay seller, says someone brings the frames to him to auction, and may have several more. He doesn't want to sell outright.
Now I've upped the number of bidders on these, I guess?

I've been putting lowball bids on these since he's selling two or three a week. Some of them have sold pretty cheap. None of them have gone for crazy money.
I did ask him about local pickup, since I live near him. He said no.

not to be a hater, but i don't think you could pay me to take on a thing like that... Not being a snob, but it seems like too many headaches for not enough hottness.

these look great for the price. The one linked in the OP ended at $55, which is a whole lot less than i would have expected. I really like the color or that one too.

It is just flashy gaspipe but I have a pair of wheels in the basement that are just waiting for a nice piece of flashy gaspipe, Oh, and a pair of short fenders.

The first two pics look great, the rest, rather rough around the edges as it were.

If you want to see a Fab Argentine bike, an AMBROSI, check out my post on Regional Discussions,

South America tab, re The Ambrosi Bicycle Thread.

With as many of the frames that are coming up for sale , I'm beginning to wonder. Is this some kind of warehouse stash find? Or, are they even vintage at all? They could be freshly made to look old? Who knows? The guy said someone brings him 2 or 3 a week because they don't want to auction them themselves. Probably legit but starting to smell fishy. Sweat shop fishy.

Those frames look like slapped together cheap junk. Really. Makes me wonder how much I could get for my '92 Japanese Paramount frame though it's not "vintage".

All you haters can go away. Newly slapped together chrome lugged frame? Right.

You guys don't realize the long celebrated history of cheap beef in Argentina.

Specifically, lacquer over chrome. Think copper Wiliers - at least the ones from the 70's and 80's.
(More correctly "cromovelato")

I've owned two Cromovelato Wiliers - the current one is circa '76 and has heart cutouts in the lugs, filled in white.
