THE Raleigh Grand Sports - GONE!

I just saw this last night on ebay. It had a Buy it Now of $499. Someone offered $399, and its gone. Oh man, you dont see this one too often.

Seller also has a Royal Enfield and a Peugeot and a Sports Tourer that are nice.

Oh, a Grand Sports! A '61 Grand Sport started it all for me. About two years ago I saw a green '61 Grand Sports with beuatiful campy and GB components, and Bluemel's fenders on the internet somewhere, and I could stop looking at it. I went back to that page three times in one day! At that time I only dabbled in cycling by occasionally fixing up balloon tire bikes. That GS sparked my interest in road bikes. I now know how rare those bikes are. One day I will own one just like the one I saw!

I'm ill looking at that sale! It fits me, and I'd have paid the buy it now price and then some. The seller shorted himself.

BH hubs, one is still a Dunlop rim, the other is a slightly later replacement.

Raleigh offered at least three generations of Gran Sport models. The one shown by the OP is the rare 1970 version as shown in this catalog page:

https://www.jaysmarine.com/TH_Raleigh_Cat_70_6.html

Redneckwes's is the 60s variant, and then there's the blue/white mid 70s Gran Sport/Grand Sports.
