Apparently it was used in competition. €40 just round the corner from me, and it looks to be in my size....

Unfortunately Gitane USA seems to be down, the site isn't loading from my computer, so if anyone from C&V can offer some info that wouod be great.

Anyway, here's a piccie:

The price includes the Campagnolo crankset (model? any good? I know nothing about old campy stuff - I'm sorry!), the front mech, headset, DT shifters etc etc.

There seems to be a number tab on the underneath of the top tube. Maybe suggests a genuine team bike...?

::EDIT:: I managed to get on the Gitane USA website in the end and post the same question over there.

Seems like a nice find for that price...the Crank is a Victory (and part of its original gruppo), not shabby but the BCD is unique so replacement rings are hard to find.

Magic, thanks Unworthy. 531p is pretty good stuff, so it should be light and sturdy....

Looks like the Dremel will be busy grinding off all that unnecessary metalwork on it.

ONLY JOKING

right, the sun is out, the roads of northern France await, I am off for a ride on my MBK Amateur.

Catalog says 531C, not 531P? Does the decal on the frame say something different? 531C would make more sense, given the mid-level build.

Bikes: enough bikes to qualify for Hoarders......

Looks just like my interclub aside from the decals, mine is 531p frame and 531c fork. It also came with Victory group.

That is an INTERCLUB? pretty dang high-end for what used to be the "club racer" of Gitane's line-up...heck, yours has a 531P frame, that's more "professional" than the OP's "Professionnel" .
