Confused with my Peugeot

I've been doing a bit of "research" on Peugeots and what mine actually is. I thought I had figured out that it's a 1978 UO10, but now I'm not so sure. I think it maybe a frankenstein or one I can't find info on. From what I can see from the 1978 catalog, it looks like a cross between a PRX10LE, PRN10E and the UO10 Maybe someone with knowledge of Peugeots can shed some light on this.

Serial Number: Y805 06325

Components:
Guidons Phillipe/Franco Italia Handlebar
Atax Stem
Exage 300EX Front Derailleur
Simplex Rear Derailleur. Gold color. I can't find a number on it
Rigida Alloy 27x1 1/4 rims. Front and Rear Quick Release
Mafac "Racer" Brakes w/black hooded levers

Looks like a late 70's UO10 with PX10 bars? My UO10 had those same bars, but without the lever covers IIRC? The wrap on those bars looks original or close, which is why I was thinking the bars are from a higher model. I could be wrong of course. It is puzzling though,
since my UO had the same stem.,,,,BD

Dont worry about it.....its clearly a UO10. Peugeot was notorious for having bikes that didnt match catalog spec, perhaps they ran out of UO10 bars and used whatever they had lying around.

Yea that's what I was thinking. The wrap definitely looks original, but everything I find says the UO10 had the Course alloy handlebar. At least whoever did it, put one on it that came on some Peugeot. I don't know why they changed out the front derailleur though.

I'm not worried about it, I was just mainly trying make sense of it. I didn't know they used mix matched parts though. This is my first Peugeot so I'm trying to find out what I can about them and the bike. I wish I had got one sooner. This thing rides great.

I'm fairly certain we have the same bike minus the paint (I do like the blue). I did some checking in old catalogs and late 70's UO10 is what I was able to find out about mine based first on decals for the years and then components to get the right model.

Could be the original was a Simplex with the plastic clamp, like on my Peugeot Premiere? In my experience the clamps become brittle and self-destruct after a while. The Shimano exage is a pretty good equivalent replacement.

Come to think of it my UO10 had the same bars. I remember thinking it was odd at the time, my PX10 I owned at the same time also had them. The stamping wasn't quite as crisp on the UO10 bars though. Maybe they were seconds, and Peugeot got a deal on them? And Miami Jim is correct on the wrap too, they surely would have wrapped up to the wider part of the bar. It kind of looks cheesy when not done that way.,,,,BD

True enough, but fortunately that's easily remedied, plus, you have a great looking Pug there ! ( and blue too!)

I've got the original Simplex FD I took off my '78 UO10 if you want to restore to original parts. I won't be needing it anytime soon, the RD was damaged beyond what I wanted to repair so I've converted it to a fixed gear. It needs some TLC to make it sparkle but its yours if you want it.
