master of bottom licks
I got my hands on four barely used "Schwinn Typhoon Cord" 26X2.125 tires (about 10 years old but still supple with no cracking) and put two of them on my MTB commuter. Yesterday I went for a short 20 mile ride with my son in law (he wanted to take his new fixie on it's maiden voyage) and I was amazed at how quickly these tires rolled. They reminded me of Fat Franks. When we got back from the ride I was very disappointed that it was over because my legs felt fresh as though I hadn't even ridden at all.
This morning my commute was effortless as well. I can't get over how well these Typhoons roll... hands down they are one of the best commuting tires I've had the pleasure to ride and best of all I got all four for free.
So who makes these things and where are they sold?

The repops from the mid 90's were made in Taiwan. Probably by Cheng Shin, LHR, or Kenda. The originals from the 50's and 60's were made by Goodyear, US Royal, and Carlisle.

Don't tell me that lol, I had a pair that were new take offs (repops) I was saving for another bike project but I was forced to put them on the vintage Columbia tandem I was redoing because the tires I had bought for it wouldn't fit without rubbing and I needed to get it done. The bike looked great with them and rode nice to. I think they were Cheng Shin's.
