Need advice on secure payment method from overseas buyer
Hey all,
I've been talking to a BF member, yehuwdiy, about selling my Miyata 1000LT frameset, and we've preliminarily agreed on a price. He is in Australia, though, so shipping and payment methods are an issue.
I've been burned many times selling items on ebay domestically and internationally, so I'm looking for a payment method that is completely irreversible (a paypal payment I received once got reversed by the buyer and I could do nothing, and I know some of those money order scams can appear to have cleared your banks and then get reversed), secure, but preferably that can clear quickly. The buyer suggested direct deposit to my account, but I'm skeptical because I think I'd have to share my account numbers, right?
And I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation on shipping method to Australia. The buyer suggested USPS, which I'm good with, but I'm skeptical that it'd be the cheapest option.
Thanks,
tmgp

How about a Western Union transfer? Go to a Western Union location and get cash. Can't reverse that. As for shipping, I assume the buyer is paying for that so I'd go with what he/she requests.

Hi Tmoney,
When you give someone a check, you give them all the same numbers that you will give someone for a direct deposit.
Ask your bank about a direct international deposit, they will give you routing numbers and next thing you know, there's new money in your account, and it can't be reversed by anyone but you, or your banker.

USPS is usually the lowest on international rates. Spend some time to get the box as small as possible since that will have a big effect on price and they won't even take it if it's too big. There may be import duty due when the package reaches Oz so make sure that is understood ahead of time.
