The Thread To Convince Velo Orange to Make a Flickstand: With Pics And Price Advice!
Didn't know about the Flickstand until one came on my Trek 715, now I can't live without it. It's especially useful for keeping the bike from toppling when bumped by toddlers when it's staged in the dining room during the week for my commute. But I only have one Flickstand and more bikes! Oh no!
So here's a thread to convince Velo Orange that there are enough Flickstand-wanters to make it worth their while to manufacture a version. Please add your vote!
Price I'd pay for regular plastic one: $20 - 25. Ok maybe 30 if it's a good year.
Price I'd pay for cool aluminum creation: $25 - 35. More?
Size of my downtube: The normal C&V classic size (ie I can't remember)

I would be interested in it. I have the same issues with the front wheel on my commuter flopping around (allowing the bike to fall) when it's rested against the wall in my house. Currently I just use one of those super small bungee cords. I give the idea a thumbs up!

FYI: ebay, NIP, 5 avail, $27.99 https://cgi.ebay.com/Rhode-Gear-Flick...item3cb6ba6d41
I personally use an old toe clip strap for the same purpose.

Rubber band around the valve stem, or the old blackburn brake stop block.

personally I can think of several things someone like VO should make. of course none come to mind at just this minute but often when thinking of project there are things I wish someone still made. Campi Chorus era hoods for one.
a flick stand is not a bad idea but I am sur there are Patent issues that need to be worked out. I think Zefal still produces them, VO should see about importing the HPX 2, 3, 4 frame fit pumps.

I use the rubberback trick. OH those old I think Clark cables that had a coating on the shifter cables that matched the color of the brake cable housing

I use a length of 1" velcro to securely keep the front wheel from turning.
I need 'securely' on the tandem, where my procedure is to:
0) Secure front wheel to prevent rolling, and lean against sturdy object
1) Link tandem-trail-a-bike to tandem-with-kidback
2) Put toddler in child seat in fourth position, seatbelt in.
3) Help 3-year old into third position, fasten backrest seatbelt
4) Move up to captain position and mount bicycle
5) Have 5-year-old climb up to stoker position
6) Remove strap and put in pocket
7) Position pedals, prep stoker, Ready-steady-go!
Dismounting is the reverse.
Sadly, this is soo cumbersome I don't get out often. But it's almost warm enough to not cause kids' athsma to flare up, so we'll try some more rides to the park soon.

I would like to be proven wrong that there is too limited a market given the wide range of tube sizes and those that want one. I would not put one on my 'nago as a permanent solution.

Yeah, that's why i don't really want to buy a used / NOS one if there's any possibility of someone doing a new one...preferably in cool polished aluminum!

Flickstands only work on non-fendered bikes. Velo Orange seems to be a rather pro-fender company.

I assume most of you saw my aluminum reinforced flick stand thread earlier this year. This could be a simple improvement for the VO flickstand.

I like the one on my Raleigh that fits a braze on. It also has holes to use as a cable stop.

Oh yeah I remember that now...very cool! [edit: responding to the aluminum reinforced comment above]
Re the aluminum on steel...hard to see how this could cause any problems given that so many aluminum things are bolted directly onto steel frames. Front Derailleurs come to mind. And clamp-on downtube bosses (like the one in my original picture)...

Like a previous poster, flick stand does not work with fenders, so I don't know that VO would be that interested. I took one off my husband's bike when I fendered it (with VO fenders), so if anyone wants one, I have one. will give away for shipping.

toe strap around front back lever...holding brake down.
and/or toe strap through front wheel and downtube.
my fenders would make a flickstand useless. and any bike that would require a flickstand, imho, would also require fenders.
