Specialized Allez Rebuild

Someone contacted me a week ago who was a referral from someone I sold a bike two a year or two ago. It's always nice to get a referral. She brought over a small Specialized Allez frame and much of the drivetrain, minus wheels.

I'm going to get it built up for her for as cheap as possible so she can see if she likes the bike. It came with what appears to be 6 sp Suntour DT shifters that can run in either indexed or friction mode.
My question is, being 6 sp (5 clicks) will the rear DT shifter index with a 6 speed freewheel? I've never seen a 6 speed cassette so I'm assuming the bike originally came with a freewheel wheelset?

I'll post pictures later in this thread.

Bikes: 84' Ciocc, 79' Shogun 1000, 76' KHS Gran Sport, 96' Schwinn Super Sport,

Uniglide cassettes came 6spd, I think I have one in the garage. I'll check and get back to you. Bike fund is getting low.

My '88 Schwinn Voyageur was equipped with a 6sp Shimano freewheel on a Maillard hub. 126mm spacing (but a 130mm hub slides in like butter - thank you, long chain stays). It came with 6sp Shimano DT shifters with both index and friction settings.

So, I imagine any 6sp freewheel will fit the bill. I'd just go with an inexpensive SunRace.

Bikes: I used to have many. And I Will again.

Suntour Accushift 6-speed used to work with Accushift freewheels. 7 speed had freewheels and freehub/cassette options.

I ended up building it with 7 sp because I had all the parts sitting around. It's rsx cassette hub with indexed dt shifters. Kindof a cool setup if you're going to use DT shifters.

I forgot to take before pics.
