- Head badge was used 1984-1987
- The 1266 stamped in the bottom bracket are the only numbers anywhere on this frame
- I learned in another thread that the Shimano crank has a January 87 date code.
- It has 27 inch wheels
- Appears to have Emron paint
That's all the help you are going to get...

The last year that seat stay treatment is seen in the catalogs is 1984.
The fork crown doesn't look like the Haden Europa on the 1984 720, so it's either a 520 or a 620 is my guess. Just need to determine if the main tubes are 531 to tell those apart.

Odd - the serial number seems to be missing a digit.

No cantilever brakes, wouldn't that rule out any of the x20s?

Can we see the dropouts and fork ends and perhaps a better view of the fork crown?
So far I concur that it is an early 80s model at the latest. The crank and head badge are not original, and I suspect it has been repainted at some point.

I bought two of these at a garage sale a year ago for $50.00 each. Both have identical paint and the same head badge. The other bike is currently stored up in the rafters above my garage so no pictures. The second bike has SR 40-52 crankset, Suntour VX-GT derailleurs and Rigida rims. Both bikes have Suntour 6 14-30 freewheel. DiaCompe 500 G brakes, Sunshine "Gyromaster" hubs. The bike in the pictures came to me with Suntour Monarch derailleurs, the Shimano crank and bottom bracket and the Biopace rings. I switched to Suntour 7s.
Checking the 1981 catalog except for the obvious Shimano updates on the one bike, the components belong on a 614. It seams odd to me that someone would update two bikes from DiaCompe 500s to 500 Gs. Hubs from Sunshine to Sunshine Gyromaster. I was satisfied until last weekend that these bikes where 412s and perfectly happy with that. Then someone got me thinking differently. He noted the newer head-badge and challenged my early 80s claim.
So do the new pictures help anyone?
