I've found an interesting Peugeot , but which one!

I saw this Peugeot advertised just a short train journey away and so i jumped on it within 10 minutes of the ad coming out. It has half chrome forks and stays and the red paint looks more anodised then paint , the colour is a lot nicer than the photos show. It has the regular Simplex with Mafac racer components and a leather seat. I have seen a drawing on a Peugeot catalogue of the bike but i can't find the model name of it.
Any help identifying it would be appreciated.

Here are some shots and thanks

I don't know what model it is, but it looks sweet!

This article on the Peugeot UE8 and UE18 might help a bit...

EDIT: I just noticed the chrome stays. Certainly different from what I thought the bike to be.

Yes it looks very similar to your bike above but as you said the chrome stays are different and also the pump pegs are along the top tube!
Does your bike have the inoxydable sticker?

PX8 variant...

P = Peugeot
Aztec lugs = 8 series
Inoxydable decal = X
Various options depending on market = 'variant'

Interesting bike. Chromed rear, brazed-on generator mount, TT pump pegs, lugs painted black, cottered crank with two large chainrings, original fenders and lights, steel wheels but not Rigida Cro-Lux apparently, and narrow-range freewheel.

It's a standard 700 bike but i've just converted it to 650! I'll post some photos later.
I prefer this frame to my PX50 and so i have exchanged all of the parts on to this bike.

Thanks guys to all of the nice comments on this bike!
I really love this frame and the colour.

If the paint looks translucent, it's probably cromovelato. Nice find!

Has anyone ever seen a Peugeot cromovelato before?
When i went to the shop today to have my fork fixed they were amazed with my red Peugeot.
Even though it has an inoxdable sticker they said it isn't inoxdable but full chrome under the paint.
I wish i could find out exactly which model this was and which other Peugeots were cromovelato.

Thanks for the decoding. Slightly off-topic, but I am curious if the "U" in UE-8 stands for anything.

Nice bike, Daveyates!

Nice bike, Daveyates!
U = Utilitarian
E = different than...different than what? Who knows.....
Aztec lugs = I had this one wrong. PX50's obviously have them but you'll never see them on Reynolds tubed bikes.

Over the years I've seen 1 or 2 fully chromed Peugeots with factory paint. Inoxydable just means the tubing was treated prior to final finishing. The frame couls have been treated with the Inoxydable treatment (probably zome type of 'dipping') then chromed then painted.

Thanks for the info!
The only other bike i have seen with this type of paint was my old Faggin.

So would you still say it is a PX8 variant but was chromed for some reason?
