I had to get some biking in while on Vacation

I just came back from a trip to Alaska and I thought I'd share my day of biking.
So it started out on a sunny day in Skagway, AL with the temperature at a good 60 degrees or so. We were walking around town and I had my bike radar on as always. A bicycle shop caught my eye and so I went over to inquire about renting a bike. They showed me the road bikes and filled me in on where to ride. So I rolled up my jeans and opted for the 30 mile 3500 foot climb. 15 miles up from 0 to 3500 feet and then back down the same way.
The ride proved to be tough and the last 6 miles were brutal (about 10% gradient with no break). It was worth it though as the scenery and views were amazing and the ride back down was exhilarating. The Trek rode fine but I was thinking about my bikes back home and by bike shorts. Enough typing and now onto the pictures.

Awesome! At least that kind of a ride will keep you warm as you get higher on the mountain.

Yes, the cotton long sleeve made it a little too warm so I rode up without it.

Fantastic trip! We lived in Alaska for two and a half years and my road bikes languished on hangers nearly the entire time. It's the only time in my life that I've spent so much time on a mountain bike, but I simply did not have the cogs or the engine to make it up the grades in the Chugach Mountains!
