The '74 PX10LE is finished. I finally got the Rally that I wanted for it. It shifts much better than I expected after all the negative things I've read about it here. Maybe it's because I'm not using a really wide range freewheel. I think it takes a slant parallelogram to handle those well.

Very Sweet, Grand Bois.

You should give it its own thread, tho. Really, it deserves it.

Then I'll ask about those bars, that triple crank, and suggest the great shifting maybe the hyperglide (?) freewheel...

Gorgeous Peugeot, Grand Bois! I'd love to see more of it.

Also, what are those flowers/plant? I've noticed it in lots of your photos.

The bars are Nitto Moustache with elk hide covers. The crank is a Record triple with Super Record rings. The freewheel is Uniglide. I only said that the shifting is better than I expected. It was great with a Suntour V-GT, but it was out of place with the other components.

The paint is by the crazy but incredibly talented Dr. Deltron.

It used to be white. Since the bike has been repainted, it has no value whatsoever.
That's okay with me. I'm the original owner and I'll never sell it.

Those are nasturtiums. They prefer cool weather, filtered sun and poor soil. The leaves and flowers are edible and can be used in salads. I haven't tried them.

I have, they grow like weeds in NorCal (maybe because they are) and I've eaten them most of my life: they taste like pepper. Best used as a spicy addition to salads, not alone unless you really like the flavor of pepper. You can also pickle the flower bud (makes a peppery substitute for capers) or pickle the leaves/flowers, too.
Sorry for the Botanical thread diversion...

1975?

hey, how do you determine the age of this motobecane? i thought my black/red grand record was a '75 and also thought that was the same year mb started to finish the grand jubilee in the opposite red/black color.
i wish i could look up the bb's s# (3606443 701) somewhere online...

Good luck with that. The SN on my 1978 Team Champion (post just before yours) is 4368575 050. The last zero actually looks more like a lower case 'o'. I can make no sense of it.

If the components are original, look for date codes on them.

Beautiful, beautiful bikes guys, I really think French is the way to go. Shouldn't say that too loud, I dont want the other rides getting jealous! I know this is not friday but here is mine, not done as much as some of yours, but I really like it.

And just for fun, here is my real baby. I know the Col saw this one.
