Found a Fiorelli today

Spotted this one in the back room at my favorite thrift. Had to do a bit of haggling, paid a bit more than I like, but less than I could have for it...

Fiorelli-branded headset and cranks with alloy Magistroni half-step rings, Campy hubs laced to Fiamme 27" rims. Campagnolo also supplied the shifters and FD and frame dropouts, rear derailleur had been replaced with a short cage Suntour XC Pro. Universal levers and brakes. Fairly nice Ambrosio alloy stem too. The frame doesn't have any tubing stickers and the original foil decals have deteriorated, so I'm not sure the model or age. I suppose I'd guess late '60s to mid '70s. I love the fork, it looks like the brazing was well done.

From the 60's but perhaps not too far into the decade.
That style of fork was made till at least 1968.
Quite a bit of work to do, I agree, lots of fillet brazing.
The cranks push it for me to the earlier part of the decade.
I think it should be a rewarding bike to rebuild.

Good score. The earlier Fiorelli's like this are pretty nice bikes. It would be early to mid 60's. That fork crown was used on their better models, the components would be more mid level for the period though. Does it have Campagnolo drop-outs?

I have a similar period track bike with the same lug set:

Grumble, grumble.

I just tried to remove the M Maton 5spd freewheel with my 2prong Park tool and I started to strip the freewheel. Now I'm sure this is going to complicate things....

Yes. Campy dropouts on frame and fork. I believe that the FD is a Gran Sport, so I guess that would be correct to the era.

Love the head lugs, the fork crown is not for me. Good luck, great find, I've never found a bike older then 74'.

Yeah, you need the right tool for those and I run an axle or skewer through the hub and use that to hold the freewheel tool tight into the freewheel.

I did exactly what you just did the first time I tried to remove one of those. :(

An Atom freewheel you mean? If so, I have one if you're interested. I just have to take it off. Lol.
