Another kickstand casualty...

Split tube and rust:



Frame is done. More parts for the bin.

In all fairness, it looks as if more than a kickstand was working to ruin that frame.

I agree with Kurt. My Raleigh has had a kickstand for 26 years, yes the 'stand scratched the paint and there's surface rust in the clamping area, but nothing like the picture. Almost looks like a battery was leaking above that area.

I think the clamp gouged the frame and years of sitting outside took its toll on the frame.
It was just some cheap Peugeot anyway...

I think it needs a new kickstand. Looks like it might have been a structural component..

It appears that the frame had water in it and it froze. Expanding ice in a tube will do that type of damage.

Is it a lugged frame? If so I might be interested in the seattube and BB and headtube and dropouts with about 4" of tube left on them for some projects.
