Yes.......

And lunch afterwards? Google Maps has it at 1 hour 25 minutes for me. Seems doable. Bridge traffic is down now that we are past Labor Day, correct?

At the start of the Cap Cod Rail Trail? Stupid question, but it is a huge time killer if I make the wrong assumption.

ScottRyder 09-14-11 06:13 AM

Yes, the head of the trail in Dennis, not the other end in Wellfleet. I'll be getting there a bit before 9:30, just to unwind after the drive. The weather sounds perfect at this point.

OK guys. I'll be there. My apologies for being somewhat flaky and non-comittal. Trying to work around a prior arrangement here. I learned last night my fishing guests will be here but we've made arrangements. They'll look after themselves until I get back. If you'll excuse me, though, I will have to cut my ride a bit short, and forgo lunch. Probably ride as far as Orleans then head back. Also, my wife is coming back saturday evening after two weeks in China and I have to get the house presentable too. But I look forward to at least meeting you guys, and seeing what classic steel you're bringing. Now, all I have to do is decide which bike to ride, not that I have that many.:)

ScottRyder 09-14-11 08:58 AM

It's a good thing, I was planning on tracking you down and dragging you to Dennis! Glad you're joining us, even if it is just to Orleans.

I've decided on my blue mink Raleigh Pro with matching wool jersey. Gotta be fashionable this time of year!

Oh how I wish I could join you guys. I can hardly think of a more perfect day? I'll be sprinting along with you in spirit!

PB, the season is still young! Let's rattle Tugral's cage and get him to run his Portsmouth route again. I missed it last time.

bikemore 09-14-11 12:10 PM

OK, it is on my schedule. I still have to be up at 5AM Sunday.

EDIT: ANd I plan to bring my Bob Jackson (yellow with some fade paint).

Capecodder 09-14-11 12:14 PM

Glad to hear some of you will be there!!!! The weather looks like it will be perfect, and I'm now getting excited about the ride.

Y'all are welcome any time, but organizing something is like herding cats.

Capecodder 09-14-11 02:47 PM

OK, let's get an official count...... There was several others that were coming, but I have not seen them here in a while, what's up with that?

You have a jersey that MATCHES a blue mink Raleigh Pro !? jeeze ...I'm feeling a little inadequate here. ;)

tugrul 09-14-11 03:27 PM

I'm good to go.

Is this the trail head?

Any idea where the post ride food stop is going to be? I'm getting dropped off, so I might need to ferry with one of you if the place isn't nearby.

That's the spot Tugral .. right on the money.

There's lot's of places on the trail for water, snacks, restrooms, etc. I'm not much of an eater during the ride and I don't know Dennis all that well for post ride food. Maybe Rootboy know's of something ...

I've spoken to Neal Lerner, he might have some family obligations to attend to, might be a last minute yes or no from him. Not sure about Anton.

I tried to dig up some of the non-C&Ver's that I know but the ride was way too "short". They're in training, they need to get their 100 miles in before coffee break.

rootboy 09-14-11 03:51 PM

"fraid I'm no help, sorry. I don't eat out much. If it were me, though, I'd head back one exit to Sweet Tomatoes pizza. I didn't even like pizza, (having lived most of my life in the Rocky Mountain west where pizza meant Dominos), 'til I moved here. Sweet Tomatoes is great. If interested, exit 8, south about one mile, on the right close to CVS. And they have San Pellegrino orange and lemon drinks. Good stuff. No beer tho.

I grew up in the Metro NYC area and didn't know there was such a thing as BAD pizza until I enlisted. Let me tell you about Fayettville NC sometime, and what passed for pizza.
The Cape and pizza have never gone together for me. but I'd be happy to be proved wrong.
Given that I get the Ross done in time, it's going to look positively dowdy next to all the classy upper-crust steel.

Awesome isn't it? Try looking for vintage bikes on the rail trail, then you know you've gone over the line of sanity.

Oh, Top, if you do decide to bring the Viscount, let me know. I have a spare fork, ya know, in case you need it. :D

Scott

rootboy 09-14-11 04:46 PM

Yeah. NYC is to the Cape on pizza like the Cape is to Utah ! It's all relative. I wish I could recommend something close to the trail but am drawing a blank.

you know ...they might have beer. I can't remember. I never drink it while I have car keys with me, so...never logged it in my memory banks. I could be wrong.

southpawboston 09-14-11 07:50 PM

I've been off-site for a conference these past few days, with limited internet access. Like Neal, I may have some family obligations but I will report back definitively by Friday. I'd like to make it, it'd be the swan song ride for my Raleigh GS-- it's getting a new steward soon.

ScottRyder 09-15-11 05:57 AM

Hope you can make it Anton, we'll give the GS a proper send off.

The rack on the vehicle holds two, so I'll bring the Viscount as back-up.
It looks as if I'm finishing the Ross build in the Dennis parking lot before the ride.......
