Knowledge/Opinions on Coppi

I seek the wisdom of you vintage bike experts. Maybe someone has this same bike or it will be recognized.

I do know it has shimano tri color group (not sure if that's original): both derailleurs, shifters (STI)/brakes, hubs. I believe it was columbus SLX tubing.

I think it would be a great weekend bike for show and faster rides. What are your thoughts?

I'd be giving it serious consideration if it fit me and the price was right. BTW, I checked out the other next photograph after that one... crazy garage full of bikes!

It is my size...I just need to figure out what the 'right price' is. I figured by finding out more info that would help me decide what it's worth paying for.

This guy is a bike hoarder like no one would believe...plus I haven't seen his NICE bikes, they are inside his house. In addition to his garage and nice bikes, there is a large hurricane proof shed out back with more bikes. Then the frames that need attention (rust removal/stripping and paint) just lay in the yard.

Anyway, back to the coppi...in addition to more information, what would you fellow C&V'ers consider paying for it?

Bikes: blue ones.

SLX tubing - good. That he puts it in his shed is a pointer that there are some ice treasures IN the house . As to the brand: it has been selling nice quality contract made frames for several decades now, they are quite popular here in Yurp. Right price? I wouldn't know. Depends on your local market. The group is fine, functionally, though not really special.

600 Tri-Color is probably the original group. Campy sucked so bad from the mid 80's through mid 90's that even the Italians were spec'ing shimano as OE.

$4-500 for the Coppi
$4-500 for the Circuit depending on spec.

Correct on all counts.

I sold my Coppi two summers ago for a little more with a full DA gruppo.

Was a nice riding bike for the most part, although a little high strung (twitchy) on descents.

Not sure, I could put you in contact with the seller if you wish. Send me a pm if so.

Figures...this guy told me he wants 800 for the Coppi.
I think he quoted me $600 for the Circuit.

Guess I'll just wait to see until he is tired of seeing it sit around, unless some joker gives in to him.

For my area, he's high all the way around. I'd try to get the Coppi for 400 tops.

What he'll take and what he'll get might be two completely different things. Then again, maybe those bikes command a higher price in your area. A rusted Carbolite Peugeot wouldn't sell for 100 here; I picked up my P8 as complete bike for $45. I'm just sayin'.
