They need to make a model called the "Smug Smaug".

I believe you can twist the Berthoud enough for it to come apart. Until you install it properly in the seat clamp. Then it's being used as designed and the structural inegrity will stop such nonsense.

One of these days I'm going to buy a DeRosa AND a Rivendell and let them loose in a cage match to the death!

What ring size? The De Rosa needs room to move & dance compared to the Riv's sure footed & punching.

You are not defined by the name on your downtube. You are defined by the flex in your berthoud saddle.

Can we concur that the OP is lacking in evidence that the saddle in question is of poor design? If so, this negative rant should be considered invalid and worthless?

Innocent on all charges.

okay, I figured it out.

This thread is really an underhanded promotional thread intended to sell Berthoud saddles.

The OP comes on trolling and talkin' trash. This prompts others (like me) to spend time investigating the product. This will result in a certain number of sales of the saddle, as people see them, want one and are intrigued by them.

After all, they have super high quality leather. That is grossly obvious.

They have some innovative features like quick clips on the crescent.

You can get titanium rails at a reasonable price upgrade.
