Looking forused bike parts online
I am looking for used bike parts on-line.
Herre's my situation. I am restoring a 70s vintage Raleigh. The rust has attacked the chrome. Some parts are coming up nicely thanks to coca-cola and aluminum foil (honest!). But I need replacement (original) brake levers, and wheel rims.
Other than eBay, where do I find this kind of stuff?

Ebay, buy another bike for parts, bike jumbles or swap meets.
Most of us upgrade things like rims to alloy for better riding and braking.

All of the above are good answers, but the best resource is this forum. Hang out with us and read some posts and get to know who has what interest. There is someone who has all the parts you need, they are sitting in his parts bin, and he considers them nothing but ballast. Your job is to figure out who this is, figure out what he wants, and make the trade. That's what the "ISO/for trade" thread is for! Post your needs there... and scroll up through the recent posts to see what people are looking for. It's educational, if nothing else....

+1 Buy a donor bike. Cocacola contains a very small amount of phosphoric acid. Cheaper to just use vinegar (acetic acid) if you want to go the consumer product as rust remover route.

Welcome to this forum!
Trades and other transactions with fellow forum members are by far the best way to get what you need. When selling I'll usually give a discount price compared to what I would get for an item on eBay because 1) no fees to pay 2) forumites usually do the same with me 3) far fewer headaches dealing with forum members 4) it's just a heck of a lot more fun.
So if you ask me my order of part acquisition methods:
1) Local co-ops/used bike stores.
1) Forum members.
^^^ Hard to choose one of the above over the other.
2) Craigslist - I've had terrific luck buying even small parts from non local sellers, and there's facilitations too.
3) Simple internet searches - Like in the example of the Suntour Alpine Gear FD I got recently. I was researching them and came across a guy selling from his Flickr page, sent an e-mail, FD was on it's way the next day. Of course, this requires a real trust in your fellow man.
4) Other forums - Sometimes I'll check Serotta or CR if I'm really jonesing for something.
5) eBay - Of course, the appeal of eBay is the wide selection. I've had good luck both buying and selling on eBay....and in most cases I don't mind fees....I'd just as soon avoid them as possible, that's all.

FWIW I have upgraded several of mine using the alloy ones similar to these from Velo-Orange.
