Even with flash I couldn't 'stop' the wings. At iso 1600, and a pretty open lens, it was 1/250 exposure.

We went out with a machete for me and a lopper for my wife, this morning, to look in depth at a property we hope to buy. This guy caught my eye as I raised the machete. Unfortunately, the cellphone pic doesn't do justice to its extremely bright green color.

Nice pic. You live in an interesting part of the world for biology. Lots of crawly things with sharp teeth! And pretty colors.

Natural Dandelion control... we named the little guy Bugsley.

http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/critt...sley%20(2).JPG

I can almost get close enough to tickle his ears...

The little hopper has taken up residence under our back deck... this has probably saved him / her from a few of the local cats and coyote that has been making it's rounds. I haven't seen another baby this year and suspect that Wiley must have gotten them as laying in the grass and pretending to be invisible isn't the best defense.

I think Bugs is a little smarter and does not have much fear of the people here... he will walk away when you get closer than a few feet and only runs when the dog tries to make friends.

A real New York moment!

On the Hudson River Greenway in Manhattan. These two guys blockaded us for the longest time, oblivious to our presence. We wondered if it was deliberate. Here you see my wife passing them. They are clearly engaged in conversation.

So last week SWIMPAL was railing on about our resident rabbit that had decapitated about half her bean plants. This morning she comes screaming in:

This sweet young thing took out one whole bed!

Chicago Al isn't Jewish (and I am), but if he weighed in, it would be amusing. I love the stereotypical gesticulation!

Nice photo from life in NYC, noglider !
What a contrast to cobrabyte 's FL heavy tree cover. Great photos.

I should post more pictures of the Hudson River Greenway. The views are varied, and that particular one is the worst.

Typical day for me this time of year. But not every day. Five friends from Denmark visiting for the striper run.

And the payoff. Though two of them each caught a fish as long as you leg. If you leg is 38 inches, that is.

Our magnificent Rhododendrons. They hardly look it but some of the plants are 12 to 14 feet in diameter. My wife wants me to prune them, but I refuse. They encircle the whole back side of out property.

I spent last week in San Francisco, visiting one of my daughters. We hiked and cycled in The Presidio park, where the hiking and cycling trails take you through some truly wonderful areas. While in The Presidio, it is hard to imagine that you are less than one-half hour away from the center of one of the country's more densely packed cities. An espresso and a sandwich at the Velo Rouge Cafe is always a nice treat.

Will you take me fishing, rootboy? I will bring bourbon and clean the fish.

Man, that fish is good eats! Pan-fried Thai style, dried red chili rub.
:)

Tell your wife the colors and bloom are spectacular. Shame to cut it down!

Of course this is not all Rodin did, but it is an original sketch, signed by the artist.
Around 1930, a contemporary of Picasso and Modigliani.

I love Rodin's work. His renditions of the human form is nothing short of amazing.

Here is "his" take on this year's TdF final podium position. (Just kidding :) )

In Oceanside, CA on vacation with the family.
Couple pics. We've got the full family bike train going: two roadies, one kids MTB and one trailer.

good times
