Bar tape help

I am hoping to get some advice/help in picking bar wrap for my bike project.

I just recently picked up a "Pearlized Cobalt Blue" 1980 Centurion Semi Pro, completely stock except for the saddle. I have decided that I want to try and do something of a restoration, using al the old components and replacing the things like the cables and such, but try for an original look. (brown cable housings, etc.) I will be recovering an Avocet racing saddle in brown leather to replace the gel seat that the PO had on it.

My question is this, what color wrap should I use? I have an old scrap of what may have been the original cotton tape from under the hoods, and it looks blue. I have read where it may have been purple tape, and that kinda seems like it may have been that color from the 1979 catalog that we can find here.

I am pretty sure I am going to use cotton with some silicone tape underneath, so was hoping for some thoughts/advice on the color I should use.

I'd match the saddle, personally.

Match the saddle, as does the Centurion Super Elite does, shown in Pearlized Cobalt Blue. The wraps are clearly brown in the catalog.

Match the saddle or pick up some of the frame's colors, like I did.

While a good choice, the hoods and cable housings already go there and I think I want more contrast between the hoods and wrap.

I think this is how I will go, since I think that the 1980 may have did this already from what I could see on the small pieces that came from under the hoods.

I am waiting on a parts shipment to put it back together. Once I do that and recover the seat, I will be posting pics.

In the right application, and this is, that fade bar tape is simply stunning.

Thank you...that bike and I go back a longgggggggggg way. I hope to keep her for a longer time.

This is from the original 1989 catalog. They used white tape.

And from the 1990 catalog:
