I ordered my Bob Jackson World Tour direct from the factory in England. They will paint them just about any color, and include lug linings at no extra cost. I'm not a big fan of high-contrast lug linings and feel that the subtle approach looks better. My initial inclination was to forgo the linings, but I ultimately decided to have silver linings, which were very subtle compared to the light metallic blue color (Celeste Cosmos). I like the way it came out.

+1 tarwheel. Heavy handed lug lining looks like you're trying too hard. If the lugs are nice to begin with there is no need to line so heavily or brightly as to look gaudy.
Less as is more in this case.

My new-to-me Rivendell Roadeo has the lugs lined from the factory (Waterford).

Very sharp!

Not mine, but was in my hands for a couple days during a facilitation. mikemowbz owns this lovely Mercian, and I have to say I think this is some of the best, most understated lug lining ever. Red against black - how classic. Note how the line comes from the lug point and then rounds the bottom of the pump peg braze on. Beautful.

Here was my first stab. Gold on red, freehand with a brush on the lug tops. A stressfest. Lol

My Italvega( in route) has some lining done factory. Might go over it again, have to wait and see.

Also reminds me that DD might be a better photographer than I.
The Mercian is the only lug-lined bike in the house, too - so its magnificence goes unchallenged around here. Tthough a certain Atala has some nice contrasting fills on the engraved lugs, stay caps, and crown...

That top tube protector with built in cable guides is interesting.

It's a great idea, if it isn't exposed to water or sweat I'd assume.
Having some protection and especially grip added to the toptube would make parking one's bike a lot easier in many cases.
I could imagine full-length rubber strips along both sides of the toptube, of the sort that are often applied to the top of the chainstay.
Especially on used bikes where the damage has already been done, I've gone looking for a good cover-up scheme for lengths of missing paint, and used leftover "finishing tape" strips from Cinelli handlebar wrap.
Sorry about the large .jpg file here. The headlug lining is factory.

It is at that - the second time I've seen a leather-wrapped main tube in two days (and I'd never seen a one before yesterday)!

Strictly novice here. For one of the girls, she's now stylin' with a '78 Motobecane faux BiC / Ocana tribute. Was having so much fun, sort of got carried away with the gold Sharpie paint pen. Piece a cake. Homegrown cal's and then a thin clearcoat over all of it.
