Anyone strip a Centurion Turbo to the chrome

Got my hands on a turbo but the paint has lots of scratches. I heard they are fully chromes under the paint. I wonder how it looks fully stripped to the chrome? Anyone done that? Is the chrome polished?

Just wondering...

I stripped a Turbo. The paint was badly scratched, beyond redemption for touchup. Around lugged areas it is not as brightly polished as in smoother areas. Chrome seems to be for utility rather than cosmetic.

Edit: The guy I was talking about just beat my reply. Lol.

Yes, it's been done. The chrome toward the center of the tube sections is more rough and not as polished. It looks alright, but you'll want to paint it again. You have pics?

I stripped the fork on mine and it looked great, but it probably wasn't intended to be like that.

The rest of the frame had me wondering all the time about stripping it down, but the paint was nice, so I never had the nerve.

A BF member chased down a stripped one once (it had been converted to SS) and said while it looked great, the places that weren't polished looked a little off once you got really close.

I just picked up a Turbo tonight and saw chrome peeking through a couple of scratches. I wondered about the finish myself. I had a fully chromed Bottecchia that had less than great polishing under the paint. Looked good from a few feet away but wouldn't pass muster up close. I kind of figured the Turbo would be the same kind of deal.
