LOOK PP66 disassembly question

I have a couple sets of these, and although they work fine, one of the pedals has an annoying rattle from inside the clip structure. Does anyone know if that can be disassembled? It appears to be held by a single pin/rivet on either side. I'm thinking maybe that could be driven out somehow, but I'd sort of like to hear that someone has done this before I attack the pedal.

I could just leave it alone, but my other incentive is the pedals are a rather worn and ugly battleship gray, and if I could remove the plastic parts I'd like to strip and polish the bodies.

I've never gotten them farther apart than pulling the spindles.
There is a part out there that takes off the locking nut on some newer looks, otherwise they crack.
I have a couple sets in that color, but with black backsides. If you want one, let me know.
