Somebody mentioned that 1988 was True Temper. I was going to mention that this was not accurate, that 1988 560 as well as 1987 was Reynolds 531 but fortunately I checked the catalog before gigantically inserting my foot in my mouth.

+1 Robatsu! Those who will criticize you for the deal you got are upset because they didn't get such a deal. I found a trumpet in an antique mall and paid $150.00 knowing it was worth $700 to $1,200 dollars. In this information age, anyone can research the value of the items they own, and are responsible for the pricing of such items when they sell. I sold another trumpet for well below market value to purchase my 1972 Raleigh, for which I paid a premium price. Some may think I was taken on the one-owner original 1972 ($1,200), but I am happy, the seller is happy, therefore it is no one else's concern. Enjoy your find!!!!

Hmm. When I was a small child, we lived at 508 Ellsworth Drive. That's the other end of the road, just a few doors up from Dale Drive, as I recall. It's been over 40 years, but I thought I remembered it clearly enough. Do they call it Ellsworth Street now? That would be odd.

For anybody else following this thread who is not familiar with this particular model, it is a really nice bike. The Reynolds 531 decal probably gave that it away, however.

I was just out in the garage looking at mine. I'm impressed that southpawboston has got those fenders working - with the 25's that are on mine, there is only about 1/2 of clearance between the top of the tire and the underside of the fork crown, pretty close for mounting up a fender IME.

It's not the early bird that get's the worm, but the fastest! #1 should have been admiring his new Trek 560 bike in is garage or living room by the time you saw it! "I'll go and look at it tomorrow", famous last words! A lot of these tomorrows never materialize due to buyer's remorse etc. Most of the time they never call to indicate that they are no longer interested, and so a person that was very interested may lose out, if he/she never get's a call from the seller. The score is a ligitimate. Congratulations!

I bet unless one had a lid on the top it would be pretty sloshy and half of it would be gone (or soaking your shoes and pants) by the time you got anywhere. I bet the Madsen could haul 330lbs no problem though.
