Is this BB iso?

I'm looking to order an Italian BB with a 113 spindle length. I found this, but it doesn't specify JIS or ISO. Anyone know?

(It's the Shimano BB-UN54 square tapered Italian 70mm width 36mm x 24 TPI for $24.95)

Thanks guys.

Pretty sure its JIS. I think all new Shimano BB's are JIS.

That's what I would have assumed, except the 2 above it (same model, different threads) are shown as ISO... so I'm a little confused. All the VO italian BB's are also JIS. Argh.

Look again, the two above it are ISO/English Threading

If you look at the description for the other two it mentions the Spindle Taper is JIS.

Ohhh. I'm blind. Thanks.

the IRD BBs like this one

New! IRD Quad QB-55 68mm Bottom Bracket Sets $29.95 http://sheldonbrown.com/images/addtocart_button.gif

Made in Japan by Tange
CroMoly J.I.S. square taper hollow spindle
BB Shell Width: 68 mm
Available spindle lengths: 107, 110, 113, 115, 118, 122.5 & 127.5mm
Steel Cups
BB Thread Type: ISO/English
With two steel cups, this is an excellent upgrade to the Shimano BB-UN54. http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/images/bb102.jpg

are the only ones I see close the UN54 with ISO mentioned but are they really talking about the taper? I would check IRDs website.

I would be suprised it shimano ever made ISO BBs since they would have intended for their BBs to used on their own cranks.

Yeah, that IRD one says JIS spindle...

Does anyone know who makes an Italian threaded BB with an ISO spindle that won't make me empty my bank account?

lostarchitect 08-08-11 03:52 PM

There's this, but the spindle is a little long. The recommended size for my crank is 113. Is it a huge thing to go to 115?

115 V 113 is only a difference of 1mm on each side. I just bought a Miche for a Stronglight I sould not find a ISO BB for. haven't installed it but it looks nice.

lostarchitect 08-08-11 04:40 PM

Maybe I'll try it. I sure as hell can't seem to find much else.

There's also this Campy one... http://www.niagaracycle.com/product_...ucts_id=402533

Does the fact that the Miche BB is listed as a track model make any real difference?

lostarchitect 08-08-11 05:58 PM

I bought the Campy one. I'm spending way too much money these days.

Just an FYI, now that it's too late - Miche makes ISO BBs, especially Italian

Yeah, I could only find one on short notice and it was the same size as the campy, so, I just went for it.
