I don't really care about outing this bike on eBay since the price is probably going to go to the moon anyway (European market). But I am curious about this Pogliaghi on ebay that has no serial numbers and no initial stamps. Can anyone offer any information on this?

I would really like to get that bike. I think his estimation on it being a 70's bike might be slightly off. Without a serial number or PSM stamp my guess is it's a mid 80's bike. Since all Pogliaghi bikes that have the PSM stamp were built while Sante Pogliaghi was still alive and built under his direct supervision or by the man himself. This quote is from ClassicRendezvous.com "Sante passed away in the mid 1980s and the rights to manufacture frames under his name had been passed to Marc Rossin, then to the Basso brothers. Bikes from the 1970s and earlier, made by Sante himself, are highly prized by knowledgeable collectors."

Early models are desirable for a wide variety of reasons.

I sold one earlier this year and was fairly astounded at the final sale price.

I still have an early 1990s Pogliaghi contract built by Rossin.

While it isn't as collectable as the Sante Poglighi produced bicycles, it is a fantastic rider.

A great handler and performer at a reasonable price.

I know BBM has one as well, and I think he enjoys his quite a bit.

No shifter bosses or TT cable guides, nutted brakes and short dropouts puts this bike in the 75-78 ballpark....

If this bike is mid 80's, how would you explain the absence of cable guides on the top tube, not to mention the guides above the bottom bracket?

Dude... good point, I didn't even look. Wow this could be interesting, and yeah the lack of no serial number or PSM stamp has me wanting an explanation too. I will be watching this closely.

I have a 83 Pogliaghi pista, no PSM. My take on my bike is Sante was in the shop and may
have looked at the frame, that's about it. I do know it was ordered from the Pogliaghi shop,
have no clue as to who built it.
That said there was some discussion of Pogliaghis marketed in Europe that didn't
have the PSM or serial numbers. I believe there is a thread here about one in Sweden.
There is one Pog tandem listed on the CR site serial number page that is also without any markings
and estimated to be a 74 or 75 build.
like any number of Italian builders serial numbers, personal markings etc. seem to be
widely variable.
