Addiction: Phase 2
It all started here:

After multiple attempts to modify a 93 Giant Prodigy for longer distance rides, I bought this bike, last November, from Guadalajara, via MercadoLibre, the Latin American version of Ebay. It took 3 months to finally figure out what it is (78 Schwinn bottom end)and by the end I was clearly bitten. I spent a good deal of time in the Athens Bike Co-op during my working holiday in Ohio this year, and returned with a pair of Panaracer Pasela TG 27 X 1, a new hose for my floor pump, so now I can reach 110 psi easily, and a pair of toe clips. I've begun accumulating rudimentary tools, and people who've known me for years as an avid cyclist have begun to call me a gearhead.
I went out on my favorite ride this morning. 46 km(14 inside the outerbelt) out, as fast as I can do it, to the minimart at the edge of Motul. R & R for 15 minutes, and return. My goal has always been to do the outbound leg in under two hours. I never managed it, though I did break 2:10 one time. This morning, with my new tires and toe clips, I did the outbound leg in 1:33:30, and the return in 1:40. It blew my mind, and continues to blow my mind. TIRES! Whodathunkit?

Way to go. New tires and some toe clips with which to push some power into them. Congrats. And, thanks for that pic, especially those banana tree leaves. The electric green of those huge leaves languishing there so peacefully and memories of the Yucatan have taken a bit of the edge off the howling, roaring winds tossing the trees outside. Thanks.
