This bike has many things that differ it from the windsor side of things.sloping crown for the fork and the vertical 1060 campy rear drop out's,etc

I think we also discovered that the seat post should be 27.2 as it is quite scrunched and the 28.6 slips,so?

Got to talk to Raymond today. Showed him the photos here. He says no Raysport. The only Raysport w/o an R in the BB is his, which was the prototype. Raysport production was well under 1000, so there were no four digit serials. Washers were used on nearly all 1060 drops as they were thin. (I think the word cheap was actually used) Then there is the seatpost size and the BB. There were no Raysport dealers other than A-1. Which is why they still had most of them 30 years later. If there were an internet, they probably would have sold much better.

He did say it was a dead ringer, but not a Raysport.

Lynn, I've never seen washers brazed onto 1060 dropouts like that on any other marque. Have you? Has anyone? If so, please provide pics. I can measure the outside diameter of the washers on mine if need be....

I still say it came from Raul Garza's shop (probably not badged as a Raysport, as the Raysport project was long gone by the time this was made, apparently). It even uses a 27.2 post....

The only bike I have seen in person with 1060 is a Raysport. Raul Garza was not involved with Raysport. Ray said he never even heard the name until it was brought up a previous time. I asked specifically who might have been involved and he told me that Ian may have hired frame builders who had worked for Windsor or AcerMex. I think that leaves the door open that a builder may have been hired that worked at one time or another for Garza. But none of those shops were involved in the construction of these frames. Ray also said the 1978 date puts it pretty much after Raysport ended production.

Looks alot like a Raysport except for a couple of details. It would be interesting to know if Ian Alsop kept taking orders for frames either badged as an Alsop or another "House" brand. I don't think Raymond has ever mentioned any other Ian Alsop frames.

Ian built at least some frames with his name on them. I've seen pics. of one (but haven't seen it in person).

Apparently it was not at all uncommon to braze a washer inside the 1060's to make up the differences in thickness between those and the 1010's:

As mentioned earlier in this thread, no "R" in bottom bracket and serial number over three digits.

Have also seen pictures of Alsop bicycles, track bikes actually, but have never heard any history on them.

Never said it was a Raysport, just providing information relative to the discussion... Someone thought it may be an Ian Alsop, who built the Raysports. I was searching that.

BTW, I have 2 Raysport frames unbuilt. They're kinda nice for what they are.

Huh? The builder of Raysports hasn't said anything. "Raymond" Is Raymond Florman in St. Louis, son of the late Ray Florman, who paid to have the Raysports built in Mexico in the 1970s. Capiche?

Please measure how big (in outside diameter, not thickness) the washers are, although it probably won't settle anything. It is what it is. Definitely Hecho en Mexico, circa 1978, and nicely done. I say it came from the same builder(s) that did the Raysports, but what do I know? I'm just some old bike nerd. :rolleyes:

Unknown where frame built and by whom. Not enough information to do anything other than guess.
