Anyone riding with a Brooks B67?

I need to retired my 25+ Brooks pro. Anyone riding on a B67? My commuter has upright bars and is about level with the saddle. I've seen Gyes and missed the $65 sale for the VO B67 look-alike. Bummer

If you're coming from a Professional and want something wider, consider a B17. A B67 (or B72) is a much wider and slightly shorter saddle. I have used all four and was happy with each. However, I've come to realize that springs are almost always unnecessary for me. However, I do like the desgin of the B72 as its springs don't look so unsightly and it weighs a good bit less than a B67.

Also was bummed to have missed that sale. Also was bummed that Brooks dealers apparently blew out the special dark red version of the B67 a year or so ago, very cheaply.

But...just putting a WTB ad on local CL brought me a nearly-new one, complete with box and wrench, at a good price. I was leery of buying new because my wife had told me she wanted a big, cushy saddle for her mixte, and if she didn't immediately find the Brooks comfortable, that would be that. However...she loves it!

Here's mine, on my Superbe. It ain't light, but it's almost obscenely comfortable. Comfort-wise, it's the back seat of an Oldsmobile Delta 88 kind of comfortable.

I've never seen a b72 before but they look pretty nice. I'll have to weigh the differences now...

Is your old Pro shot? If so, I could put new leather on it for you....

Its not really shot. Its not nice and shiny either. Its starting to look more like the underside of the leather (like raw leather) instead of the nice smooth leather. That saddle has been everywhere with me on many different bikes. I think I just want to retire it and save it to remember the good times with it. Time for a new commuter type saddle.

In that case, I think the B17 is a good suggestion. If you're used to a narrow saddle, the wide ones are not comfortable. I have B72 on my Moulton, and it's okay because it looks right, but I don't like the way it rubs.

Are the B17's recommended for equal saddle/bar height? I was looking at the spring types because thats how my bike is set up. I'm sure it'll be fine cause the Pro kinda looks the same. And there are a lot more B17's floating around used.

Oh boy, the B17's seem to come in a wide array of colors! What are they doing to these cows?!?!

I like the B68 for very upright riding. I got my dark red about a year ago from a site in England. The favorable exchange rate made it incredibly cheap. The B17 and Flyer work for me when the bars and saddle are about even.

B67 is pretty upright and stiff. I put one on a high wheel for my ~1300 mile Pacific coast tour. Loved it.

b67/b68/vo model 8/gyes whatever at 210mm are perfect for me.

if you can get over the perceived weight difference (ie when you pick up the rear of the bike), once you go sprung it is hard to go back.

i've got 3 model 8s, and i can ride them all day.

Wow, okay, yes, that one is ready for retirement. Have you had it since it was new? It takes some serious riding to do that to a saddle without breaking it.

Yah, got it new. I think I got it from Nashbar when Nashbar was still a "newspaper print" type catalog.
