French Pivo Pinch Bolt

So, in my attempt to get my Louison Bobet up and road ready I was tightening the pinch bolt on my Pivo stem and it sheared. Before we get distracted by questioning whether the threads were greased properly (which they were) or how rusty the bolt was (which it was) I am in need of a replacement. Anybody know where I can acquire one? None of the shops in my area specialize in vintage cycles, let alone work on them. Thanks in advance.

pic of the bolt (or the stem)? I might have a spare, depends on which Pivo stem it is.

Pending what 'unworthy1' has I have a complete Pivo stem which may or not have the bolt your looking for.

Those bolts were also quite similar to the oldstyle seatpost bolts. Might be an option. You could also upgrade to a nice stainless allen bolt and nut.

This happened to me with a pivo stem, and I did not want the bother to look for a new one. So i just bought a lag bolt of a similar size at home de'pot, cut some new threads on it, and retapped the bolt to a slightly larger size.

Good time to replace it. Those stems are lousy. This happened to them a lot.

Yeap, old style seat post bolt!

That was my first 10 speed, stolen 1969...

OK, I'll see if I have one...imagine that: old French aluminum stronger than old French steel!

Edit: still looking but no match so far. Sold/donated a bunch of parts this Summer and have fewer stems than I used to.

only bolt I found has 4 "nubbins" on the head rather than the 1 nub your OEM had. You'd have to grind off 3 nubbins, and the head diameter may not be exactly the same. If you're still inner-estid, drop me a PM.

I appreciate it, but I think I'm going to try the seat post bolt route first. If that doesn't work a PM will be headed your way.
