Thanks!

Yes, here's a photo of my second saddle. I've been commuting on it about 150 miles so far (less than two weeks). As you can see I cut the leather too small; note the nail holes by the cut edge; and I cut too close to the rivet at the back. The frame is an old Wrights W3N that I got from a fellow forum member.

Saddle #3 is finished, but I don't like the rivets. I think I will change them. Stamping my initials into the top was not a complete success either:

Saddles #4 and #5 and #6 are underway.

That is kind of badass, riding on your own hand made leather saddle=awesome!
You have to come up with a unique badge to put on them!

I got brown leather bar tape, but no match...

I just had a thought: putting a little amber shellac on the handlebar wrap might help it match the saddle.

It may be Off Topic, but i spend some time with my Brooks saddle and drilled some holes in it (a shoe maker helped me/gave me the tools). Since speaking and writing English isn't that easy for me, it is hard to explain how i did it, but i normally get a positive feedback when people see the saddle or pictures. And it works too.

Maybe, tuning leather saddles could be a business as well!?

Before you shelac leather, have you applied a coat or two of proofide to the leather bar wrap? It should darken quite a bit.

true, but some people prefer to start with fresh parts rather then going through the pain of refurbishing old bits. Besides, if he's going to make these saddle for the market (the OP is a pro leather worker after all), people will expect new bits (also a lot easier to control supply).
