With a few exceptions, their value will be gone in 20 years.
I keep telling people: buy the plastic furniture now, because when the oil is gone, we'll have to use (gasp) wooden furniture. The horror, the horror.

yeah they're be a classic and vintage resurgence once oil is gone haha

but seriously, not all powder coating is the same. Either find someone who is highly recommended and specializes in very fine products, or get it painted. I picked a powder coater based on the price and it was a big mistake.

Yes, I understand the idea that "It's your bike do what you want", but refinishing a bike that isn't a basket case really hurts the value and history of the bike.

Kind of like if I bought the Mona Lisa and painted Bart Simpson over it. Hey, it was my painting, I'll do what I want. Buying some super rare postage stamps and actually using them for postage might be fun too. Anyone have change for a $20.00 gold coin, I could use some singles.

There's only one Mona Lisa, and we wouldn't repaint or powdercoat it.

A Miyata 912 is not quite there, and in my opinion, worth a $100 PC if you can get decals, but not a $300 paint job + decals.
