Why do I do this?

Why do I bid on stuff I have no use for? Like the Rolf Sestriere wheels (that have
stress fractures on the rims) thinking I can use the hubs for something. really?
20 and 24 spokes? I don't own any Shimano nor any clinchers...

It can be exciting find something in the maze of the bay at a good price, it feels like you are getting away with something.

I do the same thing. Soemthing looks neat. I get it, and it sits around my shop, generally in the way, until I sell or trade it for half of what I paid.

Like the insulated cooler that attaches to your handlebars that I found at a garage sale for $4. Great price.......if I ever use it.

You have a sickness, then again so do I...... LOL

Gee, Marty. I thought for a moment you were going to tell us you bought a French bike.

lotek 11-04-11 12:53 PM

uhm Lynn, I'm avoiding ebay.fr like the plague and yah there are some French bikes that have
been very tempting to me.
and I just won a N.Record BB (old style thick cups) at least I know what bike
that'll go on...

Interesting question but I really don't have any sort of answer.... which worries me.

realestvin7 11-04-11 08:54 PM

I do the same. I'm guessing we aren't the only ones.

I've been watching ebay.fr for all the Soubitez fender mounted taillights but have been largely avoiding the temptation. I'm also getting addicted to ebay.de for all the 24t cogs and the readily available SRAM/Sachs hub parts. I'm up to 5 Sachs/SRAM hubs now with 3 waiting to be built into wheels. Then the stinking ebay.co.uk isn't helping any either as that's where I picked up a Her-cu-matic shifter for my newest baby.

I find that interesting pair of wheels and then have to build a bike to suit them.

khatfull 11-04-11 09:52 PM

Same reason I troll the used bike shops and co-ops here on a weekly basis. There's just something there, I know it, that I can't live without...er.....um....I go looking for stuff for other folks here....yeah, that's it. Totally altruistic on my part, yeah.

thirdgenbird 11-04-11 09:56 PM

ive been having the opposite problem. i tell myself i dont need something, sell it, and then find a use for it. if only i could take back the almost new chorus 8spd derailleurs...

My wife is mad at me, I bought a TT funny bike frame. If I build it up I'll just look at it, but they are so coool.
