I scored a set of these cranks last week. This is a quality part, the machining is top shelf and of course you just can't beat the old cyanide-process chrome. Wellp, I was cleaning them up last night and they shined up beautiful; but I ran into a problem when I went to check the threads.

I didn't expect 9/16 threads to fit and so they didn't. But my Lyotard 240s didn't fit either! They would thread about a third of a turn and then jam tight.

Could it be there is *another* heretofore unsuspected French pedal threading? Like 14x1?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I looked up the 240's, and they come in english and french threads.

Any chance of testing a differnt french pedal to double check, prehaps from your u08?

Well, I *know* my 240s are 14x1.25, but I tried a set of 136Rs as well. No dice.

It's definitely a different thread pitch. I might take the right arm to the hardware store tomorrow and see if I can find a bolt that fits. And it's a moot point, as since I don't have any pedals that fit, I'll be re-tapping to 9/16.
