First road build -- Finished! (Peugeot CFX-10)
Hello all,
I wanted to share the results of my first road build... a mint-green CFX-10. Before this I only had experience with building track bikes, so needless to say I learned a lot; the forums helped immensely.
For me, this is one of those holy grail bikes. I was lucky to find the frameset in my size (52) from a seller in the UK, and the suntour superbe group from irvri here on BF (thanks!). The wheels and bartape are the only new items.
I've only taken it on a couple short rides since I finished it a couple days ago, but I'm already very happy to be coasting once again.

Stunning. Was the radial spoking on the front original?

Very nicely done! Great looking bike!

The wheels are new, VO clinchers. Rear I bought complete -- it's a 36H Grand cru 126 threaded hub laced 3x to their PBP rim. Front I had built by my lbs, it's a low-flange VO 32H hub laced radially to a VO PBP rim to match the rear.

Bumping this because I took new pictures

The b17n is my most comfortable saddle... wish I had a black one though.
Hit 33mph on this (on rollers) last night -- what a blast!
Took these w/ a rangefinder, btw

That's a very pretty-looking bike (how did I miss this the first go-around?)
Love the new saddle, too. And the rims are new from VO? I'd like more information on those - as I'm sure a few others here would, too

Looks great. I really like the orange color on the fluted seatpost; it really sets off the decals. Definitely one of the prettiest Peugeots I've seen! Is it Reynolds 531?

Thanks, Orrery! I was pretty happy with the color match. It is 531. A little bendy but very fast.
DD- what do you want to know about the rims? It was very hard to get them not to squeal under brake pressure... the front still does :/

That squealing will go away as the rim gets broken in a bit more. Nice bike. Love the colors. I'd say that the brown saddle works better than black anyway.

Very nice! Brake hoods original? They look in great shape. Enjoy the ride.

Oh, yes they are toed-in. As for the bars, how far back? The drops are currently parallel with the TT/floor. The first photo makes it look weird because of parallax (rangefinder.)

Great color combination. Wonderful looking bike. I only wish my wife would like bikes too.......

rootboy, I am going to try that, since I've been finding the hoods surprisingly uncomfortable and tend to spend most of the time in the drops.
edit: much better, thanks y'all -- just took took it for a spin on the rollers with new bar angle.

From: My response would have been something along the lines of: "Does your bike have computer controlled suspension? Then shut your piehole, this baby is from the future!"
Bikes: to many to list
Now THATS what I'm talkin' 'bout! That saddle (Brooks?) bought the sexy little (EDIT!) right out of her! <3

That is such a pretty bicycle. Clean, tasteful, slender, and subtly coordinated. I really admire it.
I had not heard of this model, prior to this thread. And I had no idea that VO was selling rims. Thanks for teaching me something.
Can anyone tell me more about the CFX 10? Was it a competition frame, sold by Peugeot as a bare frame only, only made for a year or so? Please correct me.

CFX-10 aka "super competition." It was definitely sold as a frameset only in the early 80s. I don't know where it was also sold as a complete bike -- probably.
