For about half a second.. then they usually tail the emergency vehicle to clear traffic for them.

I know how you feel. I got a very nice bike stolen from me a couple of weeks ago. I'm still in denial about it.

Not just California. I have had people driving 45-50 mph in front of me in the big red truck, all lit up and 110db siren going, completely oblivious. Then, when they do wake up, they slam on the brakes just as a car is approaching from the other direction.

sorry man..bike theft sucks.

Sadly my friends bike was also stolen recently. It's a damn shame.

I'm sure there is a special place in hell for bike thieves. That totally sucks. Here's to hoping you get it returned.

Would you feel that way if it was one or all of your bikes?

I'd like to see more of it and I'd like to see them get the operations a TON of media coverage.

I've had three bikes stolen over the years, and while it was tough for awhile, I did get over it. After all, they were just possessions, right? But seriously, watch the video again: note the point where one police car goes around the crossing guard into oncoming traffic while the following car goes through just as she moves out of the way to the left. All to catch a guy stealing a $600 bike?

I'll say it again: I hate bike thieves, but that was a bit much. I stand by my comment.

Ah well, it's just a small utility bike, not some Italian thoroughbred. I guess that's just what happens in city use, especially here in holland. Still, thanks again for all the condolences :)
