VeloBase.com - December Updates
Since the last thread got a bit long (and long winded) figured it was time to start fresh with a new "what's happening over on VeloBase.com" thread to keep ya'll updated.
Most of what is new is still in the Marketplace. I have been focusing on improving the Listing Offer and Transaction management flow, making it more user friendly and more intuitive. Often what I think works well when I'm playing both sides of a transaction when testing just doesn't work well in real use, so there has been some redesigning and rebuilding going on. A lot of that is now deployed and working. Here's a few of the highlights:
1) Submit Feedback from the Transaction Update page. Now there is two places that you can submit feedback. Either from the Feedback Dialog on the Marketplace Account page (click on the Submit Feedback Icon for the Transaction you want to give feedback on), or at the bottom of the Update Transaction page. Feedback can only be left if the Transaction is Open or Completed. Otherwise the Submit Feedback option will not be available.
2) Improved information on the Transaction Lists in the Marketplace Account page, as well as on the Transaction View and Transaction Update pages. More information, better layout, especially for Trade Transactions.
3) Improved Shipping Cost input on the Transaction Update screen.
4) Fixed / Improved Feedback Calculation. Found a few minor bugs in there, should all be worked out now. One thing to note is that if both parties have left feedback, the Transaction will automatically be set to 'Completed'.
5) Improved Offer List (both your offers and offers submitted): again, more information, better layout for Trade Offers. Makes seeing what the offer is more understandable.
I think that's all the highlights. The Marketplace has seen more and more listings going up, I there is somewhere around 35-40 active listings up right now, more being added just about daily. I've already bought a couple things, and sold a couple things, which has really helped me see where the gaps are in the system. However, I am very dependent on you all giving me feedback on what works from a user standpoint, and what needs more work. If you would like to list items for sale, but do not yet have an account, or your account is not Vintage User status (current minimum status to post listings), get in touch with me over there and I will manually upgrade your account to Vintage User so you can. If you run into any problems, have any questions, or want to give feedback, Admin {at** VeloBase.com is the best email address to reach me at, or there is a Contact Us page on the website. (of course, posting here will work too!)
Also, for anyone selling items, see the end of my signature for an email of how to link to your Marketplace Profile which includes a list of your items for sale, as well as recent feedback, etc.

I sold a set of brakes on your site. They shipped out a week ago, on their way to Germany. So far the transaction has gone smoothly, just hoping they arrive to the buyer in a timely manner.
Thanks for providing another option for everyone.

I sold a pair Gazelle bar plugs to a very kind gent I can't recall the name of atm, but the transaction through VeloBase proceeded flawlessly and it is a highly recommendable place, not only for the database. Keep up the good work Jon!
I'll take a dive into my shed to see whether I can find more stuff I could offer.

Mel,
expect future transactions to be even better now. Learning more with every transaction. A lot of the improvements were on the "Trade" side of things, and since there is only one trade listing right now, probably not going to see much use for the time being, but I'm happy that it's done. I do need to do some work with the email notifications now that I have Market Alert working so there isn't needless / duplicate email notifications going out. That should be done for the next release some time next week.
Roger, glad to hear they sold.

Jon, thanks for all you do. I'll be spending more time on it. It's quite a resource.

Charles, yes, Mel did post a second set of plugs. I am eagerly waiting for my set to arrive for my set to put on the AB-Frame. I was hoping I'd be able to sell more than I buy on the Marketplace, but so far it's about even.
Of course, what I really hope is that all of you are able to use it, enjoy it, like it, and all that jazz. Again, feedback, both good and bad, is most welcome.
