Her real name was Margarita Carmen Cansino. Hollywood anglcized her with her showbiz surname "Hayworth" and dyed her hair from black to red.. Sadly, it was a common practice by the industry, back then. |

Fun Fact:
Anthony Quinn's grandfather was an Irish immigrant to Mexico, married a Mexican women, so his Dad was half Irish half Mexican, his Mom was Mexican. I had always assumed that his name, Quinn, was an Americanized version of Quintero or Quintana. One of his books "The Original Sin-A Self Portrait" is a very good read, He lived a fascinating life. |

I heard that his real name was Reina, Spanish for Queen, but it was changed to Quinn. But I suspect the Mexican guy who told me that just invented it...
Real name: Manuel Antonio Rodolfo Quinn Oaxaca, yes it's a mouthful. |

one of the fascinating things about him to me from a casting standpoint is the way Hollywood perceived him as a sort of "universal ethnic" have seen films where he portrayed characters who were Romanian, Mexican, Irish, Panamanian, Greek & Arab just think...if "the actin' thing" had not worked out he would have had a career as an architect ----- |

There is a reason why I keep checking the Celebrities thread. And it has not much to do with bicycles.
