The prior post of Rita Hayworth reminded me of her relationship with Howard Hughes. Few pics. One posed with Ida Lupino and the other, a young Howard with Harley Davidson bicycle he converted to electric.

Howard Hughes assembled what the paper called Houston’s first motorized bicycle at the age of 12 from parts of a motor that belonged to his father. Also around this time he had his father purchase a fine automobile, a Bearcat, for the sole purpose of disassembling and reassembling it, which the young Hughes did successfully. Though Hughes did have one childhood friend, neighbors recalled that when he wasn’t under his mother’s watchful house arrest, the solitary boy would ride his bike in circles around the driveway of their home in the Montrose area of Houston.

Do congressman count?

Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-Oregon) was fighting for bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly public infrastructure since his time in the Oregon state legislature, and that passion was brought to Washington in 1996 after he was elected to represent Oregon’s third congressional district in the House of Representatives.
Best, Ben

came across another one of these film studio promotional portrait images today and do not recognize the subject

perchance another job for facial recognition software

note that there appears to be a name written in seraphed letters on stern mudguard but cannot quite make it out; looks like first name might be something like "Tina"...of course cycle may be a prop one borrowed for the shoot...

this is a BTS image from the shoot of the feature film The Slender Thread

portrays a university student who is shown riding his cycle across campus in the film's opening sequence

he tosses it casually into a bike rack and hops into his convertible

on his way to his first day as a volunteer at a suicide prevention hotline

the balance of the picture is all about his first call

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059729/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

the university campus scenes are shot at the University of Washington in Seattle, "yew dub"

I have not seen the film but know of it, seen in Poitier filmography. I did not know this was a Pollack film. I did not know this was shot on UW campus. Looking up details now... a minor supporting role was played by Steven Hill, who was native to Seattle and attended a famous and still existing high school in Seattle, and then UW.
