The flat tire...or the massive chain lock she apparently uses! The way I'm seeing it, that chain is almost comically large, as if it's a plastic Halloween decoration.

Those old 3 speeds aren't exactly a thief target, either. What's in the bags is probably worth more than the bike.

Or a form of jewelry -- I'm not up on the latest styles.

That chain is pretty common for anyone with a bike in NYC.

Whether it is a total clunker BSO, or top of the line racing machine, as long as it has 2 wheels the thieves will try to steal it.

Also at least 3 missing spokes in front.

Looks like Kryptonite NY chain, perhaps two of them by the difference in color, probably so she can chain both wheels plus the frame, as tea leaves* will take any wheel they can. The padlock, while looking like quality, the shackle is more vulnerable. I have some rectangular padlocks where the shackle closes into a recess in the body, just large enough for two chain links to fit, so shackle armored by links.

The pic of Uma is from the film "Motherhood". So, I guess the bike is meant to be a mess.

Ah, that explains a lot.

Reviews of the film are unusually low.

Looks like a still from The Lady in Question. Anybody know what Mr. Ford's bike is?

How can you not like Grandpa Munster on a 10 speed?
