Lee Iacocca, auto industry titan, passed away today. Saw this referenced in one story; Iacocca developed and marketed e-bikes twenty years ago. His timing was off on this one, but he saw the future.

don't. I repeat: DON'T do an internet search for Rogue Male with your "safe-search" setting "Off" !!!

one of the quintessentially weird Peter O'toole movies has him buying a tandem with wicker side basket from a touring couple.

from about 54:07 about 3 minutes.

Q: was this type of sidecar available? all I've been able to find is chair style wicker seats. thanks

Rogue Male was a remake of a 1941 film starring Walter Pidgeon and Joan Bennett titled Man Hunt,

Both films based on the novel by Geoffrey Household.

It has been many years since viewing either film.

Me recollection is that Rogue Male devotes more time to Thorndike's experiences after returning to the U.K.

It is also much more quirky.

Cannot recall Walter Pidgeon's Thorndike living in a hole in the ground.

Since you recall the tandem you probably recall the purchase where the builder quotes Thorndike fifteen bob and the girlfriend chimes in "...but you said you could build one for ten.."

For readers: IIRC story takes place ~1936, i.e. prewar.

This is a young and very handsome Rutger Hauer in an early Paul Verhoeven film, apparently doing his own stunts.
