Pinarello Montello

Winter Project Number 2 is up and running. Pinarello Montello from early 1990s. Decals are still intact which is amazing for a Pinarello of this age. Main things to get C Record Chainset, Seatpost, Brake Levers, Vintage 36h Rims in Silver. Not sure what saddle and bar tape colour combo I should use though...I'm thinking white Regal or Rolls with white Brooks bar tape.

Thoughts?

funny, i'm working on a 1985 montello project myself. i'm gonna try and make it look as close as possible to pedro delgado's 1988/ 1989 TdF bike. its a red pina with chrome forks and rear triangle. with the head badge instead of the head tube decal. i'm gonna break my white saddle white tape tradition in favour of a black turbo saddle (like delgado) and white tape, but with the addition of a black 3TTT stem to balance out the black saddle. its a good combo. will also use some polished rims, just as you are planning. your c-record/ delta parts look NOS and the frame too! looks like the rear d is a record 8 1st version? but will the high flange hubs accommodate that many speeds? the sheriff stars will definitely be over the top. they'll look bling but for me a little too much bling for the road (if that's even possible.)

The hubs are C Record 'Sheriff Star' Road Hubs, they made a pista and a road version.
Most of the parts are near NOS, but I try polish em up myself anyway. I'm a perfectionist.
That trait does have its bad points.
You are right that the rear derailleur is an 8 speed 1st version, I need to swap it out for an engraved 1st gen derailleur when I can find one that is...
The frame has done less than 200 miles, won the whole bike on ebay and travelled 12 hours on the train to get it. I was a bit apprehensive at first thinking why am I doing this, but when I saw the bike it was soooo worth it, The groupset that was on it was a chorus 1st gen. I sold it to cover the cost of the frame, so it meant the frame was cheap
