This is my 3rd PX-10. This one sold last week to a gentleman in Japan! I'm now PX-10less! This one is also in excellent condition. I did not have to do anything to it. I'm glad is going to a new home that will pamper it.

The dropouts are rare only because bikes of that age are rare. They must have decided to use up the remaining supply on the '74 PA10.

A good friend of mine has that identical bike and it is a damn fine ride.

My impression was that it came originally as a bare frame. If it was, then it would've been a CFX-10.

I guess they are still really tickled about French C&V bikes over there........Are we going to hear about some gigantic "Eroica Francaise" ride in Japan in the near future where all these French C&V bikes that they have been harvesting from the West, will finally come out in the rising sunshine for everyone to finally see, en masse??

Looking at the number of French bikes that were shipped here to the states in the 70's it will take them a while, one at a time.

Same here. I sold my PX-10 last month to a collector last month for $450. It was a sad, but necessary, day!

From looking at the Catalogues, the PKN10 had chrome chainstays and a different Reynolds sticker than the CFX. The CFX chainstays are not chromed.

The Reynolds sticker on mine is Green & Yellow and read Garanti Contruit Ave, while it looks like the PXN10 reas Garanti Contruit Extra Leger. But what do I know, I'm a novice with C&V's and learning as I go along. I'll leave the rest of the post on this thread for other pics of Beautiful Pugs.

O RLY?

A CFX-10 frame is identical in every way to a PXN-10 frame. PXN if supplied as a complete bike, CFX if frameset only. Reynolds 531 "Extra Leger" was french for Reynolds 531SL It is thinner, lighter 531, reserved for PY-10, the only bike higher in the line-up than PX-10 in these years.

EDIT: "Niet afgebeeld" is "not pictured" in dutch. It means the picture you posted is of a PY-10 (chrome, extra leger and all). The PXN-10 is "niet afgebeeld".

That's what I thought, looking at the catalogs myself they looked like identical frames.

Well, as I was dismantling my PX-10 for shipping, the plastic front gray piece of the front derailleur broke. Not a bad break, but definitely broke. I was careful, so I attribute it to the bike's age. Does anyone know the period correct for for my px-10? The bike is early 70's 71-73? Thak you! I appreciate your help!

Just looked on ebay- searched for simplex front derailleur.

There is a nice one for $39. bin, with a polished metal front piece, which my '72 came with.
You should measure the circumference, as Simplex made at least two different seat tube sizes.

You could carefully epoxy the one you have. But it won't last long.

Here's a tip for anyone here who may have a metallic blue PX10 like mine, back on page 4.

I've found that the blue metallic annodized paint they sell at Wal-Mart is a pretty good match and great for touching up nicks and scrartches.

I spray some into the cap, and then use an artist brush mostly, but I have covered some areas with the spray itself, and "hidden" some marginally corroded clamps by spraying them blue, and it makes the bike look a bit more modern.

The paint applied in full is just very slightly darker, but otherwise is sort of transluscent- so using the brush it's possible to work on thin layers, and fill nicks and scratches almost flawlessly. It's not quite as smooth as the original, but I've done clearcoating otherwise, and so when I've used it and needed to, I've simply sprayed clearcoat on afterwards.

Got a picture of the can from Wal Mart - then I know I'm getting the right stuff. I've struggled finding the right color as the bike in person has more or a teal look than true blue.

Just finished for the Cino Heroica with parts I had on hand:

The teal color is not the same as the true blue, so why bother with a picture of the can?

Since my color was referred to as blue in the catalogs, and not teal, I'm taking a chance that maybe harpon's also has some teal. If not then the photo of the can and description isn't relevant. But, I can hold out hope that maybe it is.

Yikes. By that price I should ask $3000 for mine.

I've definitely seen an original color on PX10s that I would desribe as teal. I don't know what it's called in the catalogs.
