Excellent quality and wonderful ride....I had one until my ex-wife liked it better....she also enjoys it!!!!If it fits you could do a whole lot worse. Good luck.

Well the seller is charging $185 for shipping which explains the lack of bidding. I doubt this will go above $400.

Bikes: 1 trek, serotta, rih, de Reus, Pogliaghi and finally a Zieleman! and got a DeRosa

buy it. even with the shipping (negotiate with seller?) a good price.
Very highly thought of frames with not so much buzz.
If I weren't trolling on yet another project I'd jump on something
like this.

IMO, Bassos are some of the finest bikes of that era (I admit that I am biased: I had three )

Any other time, that would be a great compliment to my '90 Basso Paris-Roubaix. I agree with everyone else, go for it.

If it was a bit smaller I would be in the bidding. Shipping is killer though.

I decided not go go for it. 12 minutes left, but i really want a Colnago or Cinelli.

if my residence could house many bikes - yes i would go for good deals like this. but sadly, nyc apartment.

I think the buyer did very well. They are great riders. The only issue I have with mine is that 25mm tires or less is all it will take. No fender eyelets or even room for fenders. Mine originally came with tubular rims.

which may well have cost 3x that, without being triple the bike.....

....there are always more bikes.

I consider $515 delivered a good price for that bike.
That's all I'm saying right now.

I'm not particularly a fan of Bassos, but they are decent, journeyman bikes, that one looks quite clean, and the delivered price seems very reasonable, given the condition, as Robbie indicated. The wheels are probably worth $100 all by themselves. It likely won't appreciate significantly in the future, for multiple reasons, but is a lot of bike for $500.

I have a similar Basso with SLX and Super Record. Shimano 600 on a frameset like that is a deal killer.

I have a feeling we'll see it in different trim one of these days.

A similar Gap went for just under $450.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Basso-Gap-54...ht_1208wt_1185

It's equipped with Mavic components. Just wondering if Mavic groupsets are more of a collectors item?

Yes, and no. Mavic parts bring good money if they're in 9+/10 or better condition and they need to be the right model. As with Shimano components you's think French made Mavic is holding back the price.

Jim, I've seen a Basso catalog that shows the '86 Gap as a frameset. Perhaps that explains why there are different builds. Earlier catalogs show the Gaps spec'd with NR or Super Record groups.

BTW, how does your SLX compare to the other bikes in your stable?

Anyone know what happened to the Basso brothers?
