I struggled to resist this...

A 1930s FW Evans touring machine:

This is the eBay entry - lots of high def pics there:

OMG

Just look at all the details. I thought seriously about buying it but in the end decided that I just couldn't justify making my 10 bikes 11, especially as I feel a need to reduce my collection (by selling the Trek and the Hetchins Nulli Secundus). It sold for £670, about $1047, which I think is a very reasonable price. Just the saddle and the Resilion brakes would cost you about half that on eBay

So, no, but I reckon I'll be going back to look at what could have been a few times in the future...

Bikes: 1940s Fothergill, 1959 Allegro Special, 1963? Claud Butler Olympic Sprint, Lambert 'Clubman', 1974 Fuji "the Ace", 1976 Holdsworth 650b conversion rando bike, 1983 Trek 720 tourer, 1984 Counterpoint Opus II, 1993 Basso Gap, 2010 Downtube 8h, and...

It sure is lovely, but you can't own them all. Neither can I. I have to remind myself of that periodically.

I certainly don't know about others, but as my interest in vintage bicycles progress I seem to be more interested in older bikes, these days. That is a really nice bicycle and would be a hoot to restore and ride.

Gawd - that thing is gorgeous!

I'm just amazed at some of the stuff that turns up on UK eBay.

I wish you hadn't said that! Now I realise I could have got rid of my Dawes and made room for it, for my interest has most definitely gone back as it's grown.

But what is there to restore? Apart from sourcing the original SA hub and top tube quadrant trigger...

The pictures sell that bike. The seat stay treatment, the drop out adjusters, wow. Wonderful bike!

Bikes: Too many to list here check my signature.

That is very nice. You guys have me hankering for an old cruiser like that and the one Randy(?) is giving away is really bugging me, but I think shipping will be way too much.

What does this little button do?
