Almost speechless... maybe it's because most film from the pre-war years is black & white but I thought things were a bit more subdued back then.
Ordered by someone who didn't care what the neighbours thought? Or 'How to win races by distracting the competition'.
You would NOT want to get that repainted! Beautiful, beautiful beautiful.

That is spectacular! I'd hang that in the living room with paint like that.

Nah, that's a bike you gently clean within an inch of it's life and put it back on the road during beautiful, sunny (no rain within two days on either side), summer days - preferably during a group ride. The reactions of one's fellow riders would make the effort so worthwhile.

Wow, I could make that work, but finding the right hubs and all the rest.. that would take me a decade.

The quality of headtube paint detail doesn't seem to jive with the rest or the work, at least to me. Green, gold and blue looks right, very cool, if I hadn't just bought a frame, I'd definatley be placing a bid.

I'm half thinking of bidding but it would be entirely 'surplus to my requirements'. I already have the Rotrax frame waiting for me to pick up from the seller in the UK, bring back to Japan and build up with the parts from my Hetchins NS (which is to small for me). Against bidding is sourcing the Super Champion Osgear the frame was built for. They do come up but they are expensive. I have pretty much everything else.

I don't see colors as well as the rest of you people, so I'm not sure what you're all talking about. But what I see doesn't make complete sense to me. So I'm speculating here; but I suspect there's two generations of paint on that frame; the original flamboyant finish with the more alarming enamels --the contrasting lugs, box lining, &c-- added a little later.
It would fit me fine, though, in case anyone is looking for a nice birthday present (I'll be 50 on Friday).

I think the pink on the seat stay caps and binder bolt are definitely later additions. Maybe even the bands on the head tube, though they look more original. Some guy smoked a reefer in the early 70's and broke out the paints. Can't hold it against him now though. He's probably running an Irish bank somewhere. Cool frame Dawes-Man.

Ah, so maybe that's what Velognome meant. It hadn't occurred to me that the paint might not have been contemporary with the frame.
I wonder...
