Well, shoot. Here I was, thinking that I've got a couple parts I'll never use, and why not add myself to the list. And then I got to this page. :(

I agree, Ultraspontane is kind of an odd duck, and has gotten temporarily banned a couple times. I didn't see anything recent in the "Banned Users" thread, though.

Bummer that it died/disappeared. Maybe someone forgot and went on vacation? Had amnesia?

Drillium Dude 09-13-12 04:23 PM

Let's give this until Monday - after all, I'm sure Thursday through the weekend would be long enough for anyone not in a coma to respond either to the thread or plethora of PMs sent.

After that, well: is there anyone that can start the game off again with a semi-full box of Crap and a map of the US?

Perhaps our ex-Baltimore pal?

:)

I don't think Puch will be State-side until December.

MisterK 09-13-12 06:56 PM

Is this game only for americans? Because I'm canadian n have some great parts to trade in ye olde box if she gets started again

puchfinnland 09-13-12 11:12 PM

ha-ha!

it cost some serious smackers to get Andy the OLMO,

If this thing gets moving I will pack some crap in my suitcase and bring it over awaiting the new box!

D.D.
In all due respect-you are shipping out soon? can you manage the front page of the BOC from your new location?
if not should "take 5" be started by a person in the lower 48?
the biggest loss is that map and the stickers,- crap is crap.

He lives in Denver

complaining on this thread is doing nothing to get it back
Dd cant you just call him and see whats up?

curbtender 09-14-12 03:23 PM

I say we all send Puch a pile-o-crap and then sit back and watch him try to put it all in a carry on...

I'm sorry to say that it is limited to the States. Recently the box has been weighing in at over 25lbs; if it were not for the flat rate of our USPS box, the cost to ship this boat anchor would be prohibitive inside the States - I can't imagine the cost coming from/going to the GWN :)

Perhaps a Canadian version of the game is in order?

If you'd like, PM me and I can toss out some ideas on how you might get it started.

WTF, I was having computer problems plus a few other personal problems and yet I still managed to get the box going and posted my pictures to boot & there was at least 20 pages of people doing the same. His comment's about there being nothing good in the box for him and he was just going to pass it along without adding anything to it really irked me, everything I put in the box was NOS parts that I know for a fact would have been used by other members playing the game, so to me it is like he just stole all of it which is totally unacceptable. This is supposed to be a fun game ( which I think it is) and for Crap like this to happen over a Box O Crap is just plain Crappy, yeah I said it Crappy.

I live in Boulder which isn't too far from Denver and I'd be willing to drive down and pick up the box if he still has it and just doesn't want to pay shipping or whatever. And if it's time for 'Take 5' da da da dadadada da da da, dada da da.... I could easily fill a box with crap and kick-start this thing again.

uRabbit 09-15-12 11:53 AM

He must have stolen it. Damn, he beat me to it! :p

I hope you get his address and phone number!

this box is more special then # 5 as it has so many miles on it allready!

Drillium Dude 09-15-12 01:07 PM

^ Tried the number: disconnected. I'd shoot an email to his Gmail account, but since I've sent three unanswered PMs, why waste my time?

Iowegian:
thanks for coming to the rescue with a new load of crap for Take 5. Did you want to begin a new thread, or simply continue with this one? As far as visiting/taking care of shipping the box to PG, again I don't see the point as he has answered none of the PMs sent by myself and a couple other C&Vers. You would probably have to stake out his apartment just to get a word with him :)

Not worth the effort, I think.

WE need a funeral with mourning

Hmmm, I sense something a little more amiss unfortunately. Dropping the ball on the 'box-o-crap' sucks but not worth dropping off the face of the Earth over. He hasn't posted AT ALL or had any forum activity since saying he was shipping it the next day on 8-26. And a disconnected phone? I just hope the guy is OK.

As far as take-5 goes, thank you, Iowegian, for picking that ball up. I wouldn't worry too much about filling the box completly as it's sure to fill rather quickly... The map can be re-produced - we have record of its start piont and progress. l was looking forward to a sticker though :(

Fear not, if Iowegian picks up the ball decals will be being sent out to him.

I was keeping it under my hat - How long did my "bent fork" stay in there? Anyone get a good laugh out of that?

do you have a baseball club?

get this man an address.....

if they threw him out- he most likely left the box!

curbtender 09-15-12 02:27 PM

In the spirit of sailor ben, we are just launching notes in bottles. At some point someone picks it up or it breaks on a reef and disappears...

Revisiting old boxes:

Wow, that's from way back - I see the black pouch that contained the bug-protector bike sheath (for use when transporting a bike on a roof rack) I picked out on my very first go-around.

In some ways, I agree with your "notes in bottles" comparison, but in others not so much. There is a set of rules in place, and each person knows from/to whom they're receiving/sending. It's not like it's random, you know?

If everyone were to simply follow the rules, no matter what they feel when they get the box (which is supposed to have crap in it), then this could go on forever.

I just wanted to let everyone know Ultraspontane is just fine, we don't need to worry something bad happened to him. Here's a vid he uploaded today as proof.

Iowegian 09-17-12 04:47 PM

I'll get a box today and start filling it up. Decals, maps etc can be included, just PM me for my address if you need it and I'll add them to the mix. It might take a few days but I should be able to get this thang back on the road in a few days, longer if I need to wait for things to arrive here. Perhaps to expedite matters we could ship all the 'extra's' to the photogravity, the next lucky recipient. LMK.

Now that's an idea! Since I'm not too far from Baltimore, perhaps I can take along some old 3-speed hubs, that ought to get his carry-on luggage over the weight limit. :D

Since you're a CPO, if we were under your command I'm sure you'd be charging someone with insubordination and a suspension without pay for a couple weeks. Unfortunately, this ain't the Navy. :(
