Saddles

Hi!
The time has come for me to buy a new saddle for my 1970 road-bike, and I understand a lot of people adore Brooks. I want comfort, but also a kind of "racer"/road-seat. My handlebar is lower than the saddle ( I got the kind of handlebar we in Norway call ram's horn or racer-handlebar here), if that changes something. I have read a lot of good reviews for the Brooks B17, and I understand the B17-N is for bikes with lower handlebar than saddle. I have also looked at the Selle Italia Turbo. I want a vintage-seat, as you maybe understand.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Bikes: 1949 Hercules Kestrel, 1950 Norman Rapide, 1970 Schwinn Collegiate, 1972 Peugeot UE-8, 1976 Raleigh Sports, 1977 Raleigh Sports, 1977 Jack Taylor Tandem, 1984 Davidson Tandem, 2010 Bilenky "BQ" 650B Constructeur Tandem, 2011 Linus Mixte

Swallow, Team Pro or Colt are good choices in addition to the B17 Narrow.

Bikes: 1986 Alan Record Carbonio, 1985 Vitus Plus Carbone 7, 1984 Peugeot PSV, 1972 Line Seeker, 1986(est.) Medici Aerodynamic (Project), 1985(est.) Peugeot PY10FC

If you are not ready to try out a leather suspension saddle like the Brooks you can also try out period appropriate padded leather/plastic shell saddles like the Ideale 2000/1000 or a Unicanitor.

You can also add the Swift to that list.

I use a Velo-Orange #6 on my road bike. It's a swallow clone. I really like it. Other than that all I have on the subject is here.

I love the Brooks Pro on a classic road bike. I find it very comfortable, too.

+1 for the Swift. I'm starting to like it more than the Pro, and that took some convincing.
