Hmm.

Cannot seem to find a Rustoleum vinyl spray in green. The vinyl spray is black or white. Then there is vinyl & fabric spray, in a range of colours, not including green. Ha

Bikes: A few

Check auto parts store. Pep Boys had many colors to match many car interiors. Even many you would not expect. The color I got was not common at all, but they had a match. I don't think green would be a problem.

Bikes: hans lutz, , puch mistral ultima,2x Austro Daimler Smoked chrome Ultima,Austro Daimler Mixte,Austro Daimler 531 mixte, flying arrow,F Moser,

My bike shop, who actually sells custom bikes under his name
https://www.chebici.fi/

told me, strip off the housing and find heatshrink the correct color.

another option
use the vinyl paint and then a clear heatshrink to keep it on.

I feel like you should just bite the bullet and get the colored housing and use the MTB cables. It will work. It may be a little more expensive, but it seems a whole lot easier and more likely to last a long time than stripping housing and heat gunning it. In my opinion at least.

News flash, his derailleur cables probably take different ends, too.

Geesh
No geesh necessary. I was quite sincere in the "not to be abrasive" part. I am still perplexed, though. Did you think by "our" he meant all of C&V? FWIW I think most people read "our" to mean his family's, which is why "your" in your post would mean the same thing.

+1 on the amazing selection of paints you can get at the auto parts store. I was in Pep Boys last night and saw all kinds of cool stuff, including paint for auto interiors, upholstery, etc. Gonna do the living room sofa one of these days!

Ha. If I were to do that, I am pretty sure I would jack it up by sanding them too much or something, leaving me with a product I cannot return.

I'll have to check out an auto store. Nearest Pep Boys is 10 miles away, so I'll try it last. Autozone, O'Reilly's, and Napa are close.

I would like to say to the OP that I applaud your frugality and resourcefulness, but that would be disingenuous. Painting bicycle cable housing has to be one of the dumbest ideas I've seen on BF in some time and, trust me, there have been some doozies.

It's too late for this to be an April Fool's Day joke, right?

Yeah, well, no. Don't paint your housings. Just get it in the color you want.

Maybe they're right. Maybe painting housing isn't the best idea. Maybe you should paint your chain instead.

I had my heart set on a color I couldn't find .. just couldn't move away from it. Then I found this place:

https://www.porkchopbmx.com/Brake-Cab...usings_c33.htm

Gave me a few good options and choices. Ended up getting something I was totally happy with and was glad I couldn't find my original color.

Haha you guys sure give me some good laughs sometimes.

Scott - Thanks so much for that link! That colour is close enough to what I was thinking that I may just have to order it! Is that the 'clear yellow'?

That's what I'm thinking... For my rootbeer brown '72.
The 'Clear Yellow' does not look exactly like that. Hope Scott knows the name of the colour.

C&V isn't about the monetary value of a bicycle...

Yes, it was ....

https://www.porkchopbmx.com/Complete-...EKITCLRYLW.htm

It's more of a greenish than yellow, that's why it work well with my smoked chrome Vent Noir, in the sunlight it has a greenish cast. I think I have a bit left at home and would be willing to chop it up into small pieces and send out a sample to anyone that pm's me their mailing address. Let me check tonight to see how much I have.

I don't know if the product clear yellow sold by the foot is the same color, it doesn't say "gold"

It doesn't have the GOLD in parentheses like the full kit does, but it is sold by the foot: https://www.porkchopbmx.com/Lined-Bra...-FT-CLRYLW.htm

They use the same image to show it on that page.

I just may have to order some of this. After shipping, it ends up being about $10 for two feet.

What are you going to do with only 2 feet?

Haha good question! I haven't measured, so I don't know for sure how much I need. I was just doing a random amount to see how much shipping was.
