1963 Pogliaghi Italcorse (the rarest bike i've ever owned, briefly...)

just thought i'd post up some photos of this stunner. its a 1963(ish) pogliaghi italcorse #7178. it was a custom ordered/ sized bike ordered from bob's cycles in los angeles in the 1960's. bob berghino was the owner of the shop, hence the 'berghino special' decals on the downtube. the frame and components are all in beautiful condition as the bike was sadly/ or luckily in storage for most of its life. a true find, which fortunately/ unfortunately i just sold over on the CR list. but a true beauty and i was happy to briefly own it.

very nice bicycle! you were a lucky owner of such an original bike.

I want people to note something, this is a very original bike with original paint, I was just reading about someone in the forum that had a nice 50's blue frame they are building up for their wife, it was resprayed and had a very High gloss.

Paints just did not have that super gloss back in those days.
-this subject should have its own thread-

Wow, that is a stunner...a holy grail bike for many people (well, those that are in the know).
I wasn't following it on the CR list so this is the first I've seen it:
are those 27" wheels?
Do you know what the lugs are (besides looking a lot like Nervex Pros, they seem either finessed or...Prugnat)?
I remember reading that Sante liked to use 531 and that he often mixed tubing when he built...do you know what the fork blades are?
That would be a hard one to let go...

Wow, unbelivablysuperduper! THe color looks like transparent yellow/green over silver, like Legnanos.

Beautiful bike. Glad you got it sold. I was very tempted and have had the pictures up on my screen all day trying to decide. Shouldn't have waited so long
